Fans of the hit comedy film “Neighbors” will be excited to hear that stars Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne are reuniting on the small screen for a new Apple TV+ comedy series called “Platonic.” The show centers around two former best friends, Will and Sylvia, who try to reignite their friendship after a falling out.
The show’s official logline promises that the characters’ friendship will become “all-consuming ” and will lead to hilariously destabilizing consequences. “Platonic” will run for 10 episodes, with the first three premiering on May 24, and the remaining seven dropping on Wednesdays until the finale on July 12.
Joining Rogen and Byrne in the cast is their former “Neighbors” co-star Carla Gallo, as well as comedic performers Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale, and Andrew Lopez. Rogen and Byrne will also serve as executive producers on the series.
“Platonic” is co-created, co-written, and directed by Nick Stoller, who previously worked with Rogen and Byrne on “Neighbors” and “Bros,” respectively. Stoller’s wife, screenwriter Francesca Delbanco, is also involved in the project as a co-creator and co-writer. Conor Welch serves as an executive producer, and the show is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
This isn’t the first comedy series that Byrne has starred in for Apple TV+. She also leads the critically acclaimed show “Physical,” which will return for its third season this year. As for Rogen, “Platonic” marks his first series with the streamer, but he has another untitled comedy series in the works with Apple TV+, which he will write, direct, and executive produce with his partner Evan Goldberg.
