Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse concept art features Miles Morales running through an unexpected new universe. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse featured several universes, with the animated sequel putting an older Miles Morales through the wringer, as the character had not left his universe in the original movie. While Miles discovered many exciting new universes, there was one missing from the film.
On Twitter, concept artist Yuhki Demers shared an unused Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse design for a dinosaur universe.
The concept art features Miles Morales running from Spider-Man 2099 after he escaped the Spider Society’s HQ, with the two characters going through a dinosaur universe. The universe in question most likely belongs to Spider-Rex, one of the several Spider-Man variants in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, as dinosaur versions of Miles and Gwen Stacy seemed ready to fight each other.
Why Spider-Verse 3 Needs To Use The Spider-Rex Universe
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will need to go even bigger than Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to close out the animated film trilogy in grand style. To do so, it is likely that the movie will see Miles venture through even more universes in his quest to escape the Prowler variant of Miles introduced in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse‘s ending and get back to his own universe to stop the Spot from killing his father.
With Spider-Man 2099’s team and Gwen’s own multiverse team of Spider-Men set to fight in the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse follow-up, a sequence featuring the two teams trading blows across different universes would be exciting. Spider-Rex’s universe appears as a perfect setting for the Spider-Man variants to fight in, as the concept art depicts the universe as a dark and dangerous place, akin to the Jurassic Park movies.
By featuring Spider-Rex’s universe, a horror element would be added to the fight between the two different teams of Spider-Man variants. The danger of having dinosaurs attack out of the blue in the middle of the fight would surely have Miles, Spider-Man 2099, and others on edge. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse showed with its LEGO universe that wildly different universes can be exciting, so audiences would likely respond well to Spider-Rex’s universe appearing in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse‘s sequel.
