During an episode of the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson shared her experience of working with a challenging co-star whom she described as an “absolute idiot.”
Ferguson recounted how she found her voice in standing up for herself after enduring criticism from the unnamed co-star. She eventually reached a point where she requested them to turn their back while she performed her scenes.
While Ferguson chose not to disclose the identity or gender of the co-star, she described the individual’s behavior as insecure and angry, unable to deliver their lines smoothly and resorting to belittling comments directed at her in front of the entire crew.
She expressed feeling intimidated by the confrontation and being subjected to screaming, but she summoned the courage to address the behavior directly. Despite being unsupported due to the co-star’s prominence on the call sheet, Ferguson demanded that they leave the set and vowed to focus on her acting even if it meant performing to a tennis ball.
When confronted by producers, Ferguson refused to compromise and instead insisted on acting to the back of her co-star’s head, challenging the director to prioritize the well-being of the entire cast and crew over appeasing one individual.
Reflecting on the experience, Ferguson acknowledged her journey to developing the confidence to confront such behavior, a journey spanning over a decade in her acting career.
Although she declined to name the co-star, Ferguson clarified that it was neither Tom Cruise nor Hugh Jackman. She emphasized her intention to maintain anonymity, regardless of the co-star’s identity.
Dwayne Johnson, who co-starred with Ferguson in “Hercules” in 2014, expressed his support for her stance, commending her for standing up to the situation and referring to her as his “guardian angel” on set. He expressed a desire to identify the individual responsible for mistreatment.
