Pedro Pascal in talks for ‘Gladiator’ follow-up

Pedro Pascal is one busy actor! He has recently been doing press for the newest season of The Mandalorian and HBO series The Last of Us, and now he’s in talks to join the cast of Paramount’s Gladiator sequel.

The film is a follow-up to the 2001 best picture Oscar winner and will star Paul Mescal in the lead role, with Connie Nielsen reprising her role as Lucilla. Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, and Barry Keoghan are also set to appear in the movie.

According to reports, the story will center on Lucius, the son of Lucilla and nephew of Commodus, played by Phoenix in the original film.

Djimon Hounsou is expected to return as Juba, a fellow gladiator and one-time ally of Maximus. The script is being written by David Scarpa, who worked with Ridley Scott on All The Money In the World and their upcoming Napoleon movie.

Gladiator was a huge success at the box office, grossing $460 million , and earned eleven Oscar nominations, winning five statues, including best picture and best actor for Crowe.

Pascal, who is represented by CAA and Jackoway Austen, has upcoming credits that include Ethan Coen’s Drive-Away Dolls. It looks like 2022 will be another busy year for this talented actor!
