During the recent fan event TUDUM, Netflix arranged an interview with Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades Trilogy), and Alia Bhatt (RRR) to discuss their upcoming action film, Heart of Stone. In the conversation, Gadot also took the opportunity to shed some light on another action project she will be starring in, Red Notice 2, which was given the green light by Netflix in January 2022.
After October 2022, there had been no updates on the sequels apart from the fact that the scripts were being written. However, Gadot revealed that she had received the script for Red Notice 2 and assured fans that the entire production team is buzzing with excitement, indicating that filming may commence soon.
“We’re all talking about it. I don’t know if I can say anything! I already read the second script and it’s… whoo! We’re all very excited about it!”
Red Notice 2 will see the return of Gadot and Ryan Reynolds as talented con artists and thieves who embark on a worldwide search for valuable works of art to steal and sell for massive profits. Dwayne Johnson will also reprise his role as the FBI agent who attempts to keep both robbers in check.
The producers of Red Notice, Beau Flynn, and Hiram Garcia, expressed their intentions to film Red Notice 2 and Red Notice 3 back-to-back in an interview with Collider last year. While this approach saves time for everyone involved, it may also lead to a delay in the release of both movies. However, we will have to wait for further updates to confirm this plan.
The original Red Notice was an unexpected hit on Netflix. Upon its release, it quickly became the most-watched movie and appeared in the Top 10 Netflix titles in 94 countries. This success prompted Netflix to order two sequels simultaneously.
