Cormac McCarthy’s masterpiece, Blood Meridian, has never been adapted for film despite multiple attempts.
New Regency has announced a new adaptation of the 1985 novel with John Hillcoat , who previously directed The Proposition and The Road, set to direct.
McCarthy will executive produce the film, but the scriptwriter has not been announced yet.

The book’s extreme violence has made it a challenging adaptation for filmmakers, featuring scalpings , sexual assaults, and pedophilia.
The plot follows a young man known only as “The Kid,” who becomes involved with the criminal Glanton Gang, led by the enigmatic Judge Holden.

Hillcoat’s recent work includes directing all six episodes of the Showtime series George & Tammy.
