Dune: Part Two is shaping up to be an action-packed, epic war movie, according to filmmaker Denis Villeneuve and stars Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. The trio unveiled a new trailer for the highly anticipated sequel at CinemaCon on Tuesday, which showcased all new sets and locations, and promised an immersive Imax experience.
Chalamet spoke about the evolution of his character, Paul Atreides, from a student to a leader and redeemer of the Fremen people. Meanwhile, Villeneuve introduced franchise newcomer Austin Butler as the notorious Feyd Rautha, describing his character as an “Olympic sword-master crossed with a psychotic serial killer.”
The trailer featured a centerpiece Sandworm ride for Paul and a Chrys Nife battle with Butler’s character, as well as a glimpse of Christopher Walken as the Emperor, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan Corrino, and Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot.
Dune: Part Two continues the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller, and follows Paul Atreides on a mythic journey of revenge against those who destroyed his family, while facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe.
