In a recently released interview, Ana de Armas was asked about the possibility of playing Wonder Woman, and she gave her response.
Although Gal Gadot has already appeared in several DC films, including upcoming ones like Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash, her third solo film was cancelled under new leadership at DC Studios. Despite her recent cameos, it remains unclear whether Gadot will continue to portray the iconic hero.
Meanwhile, some fans have suggested that Ana de Armas would make a great replacement for the Lasso of Truth if the need ever arose. And in the interview, de Armas shared her thoughts on the hypothetical casting.
Armas For Wonder Woman ?
During an interview with Wired to promote her new film Ghosted, which also stars Chris Evans, Ana de Armas was asked about the possibility of being cast as Princess Diana in the DC Universe.
When asked if she would be the next Wonder Woman, the actress promptly responded, stating that she believes “Gal Gadot is doing a great job.”
“Well, I feel like Gal Gadot is doing a great job. So you know, I think she should keep doing that.”
An Open Role for Ana de Armas?
Ana de Armas might have a chance to take on the role of Wonder Woman, given that it seems to be an open position waiting to be filled.
While it remains uncertain whether Gal Gadot will continue to play the beloved character, it appears that James Gunn’s new DC Universe will undergo a significant reboot, which could include recasting the Amazonian warrior.
If Gunn is in search of a new actress for the role, de Armas would be a fantastic choice.
Although de Armas may not have the opportunity to portray Wonder Woman in the prequel spinoff series Paradise Lost, she could still secure a key role in the DC or Marvel Cinematic Universe given her growing popularity.
For instance, she could be a great fit for the role of Emma Frost or Jean Grey when the X-Men eventually arrive in the MCU.
In addition to Wonder Woman, other characters such as Poison Ivy or Zatanna would also be ideal roles for de Armas in the DC Universe.
As for her most recent project, Ghosted, the film is now available to stream on Apple TV+.
