Actor Theo James, who recently starred in HBO’s hit series The White Lotus ,is set to collaborate with renowned horror director James Wan for a film adaptation of Stephen King’s short story ” The Monkey .”
The film will be produced by Wan’s Atomic Monster production company and will be directed by Osgood Perkins, who also adapted King’s story for the screen.
The plot revolves around twin brothers who must reunite to destroy their father’s old monkey toy after a series of gruesome deaths occur around them. James’s role in the film has not yet been revealed.
Wan, known for his work on horror franchises such as The Conjuring and Insidious, has expressed his admiration for King’s work in the past.
He called “The Monkey” a personal favorite and expressed excitement about working with Perkins to bring the story to life.
Producers for the film include Michael Clear, Jason Cloth, Dave Caplan, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Chris Ferguson, Peter Luo, and Nancy Xu.
John Friedberg will also serve as executive producer for Black Bear International, which will lead the film’s sales at the Cannes Film Festival.
The announcement of “The Monkey” comes amidst a flurry of activity surrounding King’s work in Hollywood, including the recent announcement of a Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill-starring adaptation of “The Life Of Chuck” and the upcoming release of “The Boogeyman” by 20th Century.
